Brazil is known for its football around the world. The football fever of Brazil is such that it inflicts other nations as well, it was apparent in the recent FIFA World Cup of 2014 which was held in Brazil. With a staggering population of 200.4 million, Brazil has one of the most diversified populaces in the world. A major reason for this is the influx of immigrants over the last 150 years. People from Italy, Japan, Germany, Eastern Europe and parts of the Middle East flooded to Brazil in search of labor. Recent immigration have been from Korea and China. Laborers come to work on the ample coffee plantations around the country.

The country is mostly Catholic with around 60% of its population being Roman Catholic which is incidentally the largest of any country. It also contains an interesting mix of other faiths as well which stem primarily from the traditions of indigenous groups.

Brazil was a colony of Portugal during the earlier years of the 19^th century and now is the largest Portuguese speaking country in the world.

Brazil contains many natural heritage sites; UNESCO lists 19 World Heritage Sites within Brazil such as the capital city of Brasilia, Brazilian Atlantic Island and many others.

It also has the most densely populated cities in the entire South American continent in Sao Paulo.
